Special Events
October 18: Introduction to the Bible
Join Fr. Kevin in the Library at 11:20 am on Sunday for a multi-week “bird’s eye” view of the history and structure of the Bible. Series runs to October 25.
October 23: Murder Mystery at St. Francis!
CRIME at St. Francis! Tickets are on sale NOW for frivolous fun and murderous mayhem as our parish hosts The Murder Mystery Company of Philadelphia for an evening dinner theater on October 23. Invite friends, family, associates . . . or anyone else who looks "suspicious." The evening begins on dinner at 6:30 pm. Proceeds will benefit the outreach ministries of St. Francis and the Diocese of Pennsylvania. Tickets are $60.00 each, payable by cash, check, or PayPal (on the home page). Space is limited to 60.
October 25: Annual Fall Cleanup
After worship on October 25 is our annual Fall Clean-Up event. Please plan to stay if you are able to help with tending our grounds for the winter and coming spring. Wear casual clothes and appropriate shoes, and bring any tools you would like to use, e.g. rakes, pruners, and blowers. Soup will be provided!
November 1: The Feast of All Saints
On this special day on the church calendar, we will celebrate a Baptism, recite the Litany of the Beloved at the Altar, and share in a Potluck Feast following the service. Members and friends are encouraged throughout October to bring framed photos of loved ones who have died, which will be displayed on the Altar (an offrenda) that Sunday during the service. Please watch for a sign-up in the coming weeks for the potluck.
December 6: Christmas Wreath Decorating Workshop
Please join us on December 6 from 4:30 - 6:30 pm for a revival of one of St. Francis-in-the-Fields’s Christmas traditions: the wreath or swag decorating workshop. More of a casual get together, actually, with instruction and supplies! Just bring your own wreath (swag materials will be provided if you choose to make one of those) and the rest (materials, ideas, guidance, fun, music) will be provided. No real expertise needed, so don’t be intimidated if you have not done this before. Friends from outside the church are welcome! Refreshments will be served!
A sign-up sheet will be in the Narthex, or you can contact Laura Petersen at ljpetersenpa@gmail.com or 610-348-1132 to sign up or ask any questions. Depending on numbers, there may be a small ($5) donation requested. This is always a fun event, and we look forward to seeing you there!
Monthly Events
Book Group
The next meeting for Book Group is on October 16 at 1 pm in the library. We will be discussing How the Penguins Saved Veronica by Hazel Prior. Everyone is welcome to attend even if you have not finished the book

Brown Bag Lunch
Join us on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, from noon to 1 pm for our next Brown Bag Lunch gathering. We are delighted to welcome Jennifer Green, Director of Education at the Chester County History Center, as our guest speaker. Please arrive by 11:45 am to allow time to socialize before the event. Remember to bring lunch and a drink. We look forward to seeing you there!
Enneagram Growth Group
The “EGG” meets on the 1st Tuesday of each month, from 6 to 8 pm, at the home of Kevin & Donna Dellaria. This monthly group meets to go beyond basic Enneagram theory through group discussion and reflection. The next meeting is on November 3. Everyone with interest and some experience with the Enneagram is welcome.
Men's Fellowship Breakfast
The Men's Fellowship Breakfast is held monthly on the first Saturday of the month at 9 am at the West Chester Diner, 1147 West Chester Pike, West Chester. This is a BYOB ("Bring Your Own Bucks") event. The next breakfast is on November 7. All men of St. Francis are welcome to attend.
Weekly Events
Church School
Church School meets every Sunday during the Sunday morning service. Children ages (roughly) 5 and up are invited to come downstairs at 10am for stories, songs, and activities. Children will return to the service during the announcements and join their parents in the sanctuary for Holy Eucharist. Our Church School uses the StoryMakers NYC curriculum, encouraging children to use their imagination to explore the world of the Bible through activities, crafts, and storytelling. We welcome your children and/or grandchildren to be part of our growing group of young disciples!
Sunday Night Contemplative Prayer
The group meets in the library on Sunday evenings at 6 pm. The service includes simple prayers and singing, with 20 minutes of Centering Prayer. Everyone is welcome.
Lectionary Bible Study
This weekly Bible Study meets Wednesdays at 10 am, in-person and on Zoom to discuss the readings for the upcoming Sunday. This is a free-flowing (and often wide-ranging!) conversation. No study required! Holy Eucharist follows at 11:15. A weekly email link is sent out for those who desire to attend virtually.
