Parables: Stories for Life in God's World: Virtual Study, Led by Fr. Kevin
What is a parable? How do parables teach us about God and God's kingdom? Jesus' parables are some of the most memorable moments in the Gospels, and Jesus used parables
for many of his most important teachings. Learning the key ideas of parables, and knowing how they are constructed, can open up their meaning in powerful, life-changing ways. Please join Fr. Kevin as he leads a study and discussion of the parables of Jesus in seven, one-hour, virtual sessions, beginning February 14th. A workbook with short, weekly readings will be used in the study. To sign up, email the parish office at stfrancisfields@stfrancisfields.org. Sign-ups are due by January 31st, so workbooks can be ordered in time for class.
Sundays, February 14 - March 28 (7 sessions)
11:45 to 12:45 on Zoom
$20 donations accepted to cover workbook expenses

A Lucky Life Interrupted: A Memoir of Hope by Tom Brokaw
Tom Brokaw has led a fortunate life, with a strong marriage and family, many friends, and a brilliant journalism career culminating in his twenty-two years as anchor of the NBC Nightly News and as best-selling author. But in the summer of 2013 he received the news that he had multiple myeloma, a treatable but incurable blood cancer. Friends had always referred to Brokaw’s “lucky star,” but as he writes in this inspiring memoir, “Turns out that star has a dimmer switch.”
Brokaw takes us through all the seasons and stages of this surprising year, the emotions, discoveries, setbacks, and struggles—times of denial, acceptance, turning points, and courage. After his diagnosis, Brokaw began to keep a journal, approaching this new stage of his life in a familiar role: as a journalist, determined to learn as much as he could about his condition, to report the story, and help others facing similar battles. That journal became the basis of this memoir, the story of a man coming to terms with his own mortality, contemplating what means the most to him now, and reflecting on what has meant the most to him throughout his life.
Generous, informative, and deeply human, A Lucky Life Interrupted offers a message of understanding and empowerment, resolve and reality, hope for the future and gratitude for a well-lived life.

These Enneagram Growth Groups will be offered virtually, and free of charge, on the last Monday of each month, January – April, from 10 to 11:30 am, and 6:30 to 8 pm. The first meetings will be Monday, January 25th. Our topic during this winter/spring study will be an exciting examination of the vices and virtues of our personality types. This will be a lively discussion of the strengths we all carry and how to tap into the best of ourselves, as well as acknowledging the slippery places we stumble into and how to better navigate these.
To register, email the parish office, or Fr. Kevin and Donna Dellaria.
