Financial Peace University (FPU) is a popular, life-changing, 9-week course on personal financial management that has enabled thousands of individuals and families live less stressful and more abudant lives. Participants learn biblical wisdom and practical skills for saving, paying down debt, and spending and investing wisely, and becoming generous and faithful givers. The average FPU graduate pays off $5300 in debt and puts $2700 in savings over just the first 90 days.
Fr. Kevin and Donna Dellaria have their own, powerful testimony about
Financial Peace University. In January 2004, the Dellarias faced $20,000 in credit card debt, in addition to student loans and other obligations. After learning about FPU from a friend, they decided to start and lead the first FPU class in their parish. Over the next year, they led two FPU classes and were surprised to discover that dozens of individuals and families in their church, from all walks of life and every social strata, were facing the same struggles. But throughout that year, as a result of FPU, those struggling lives were changed and people found liberation from financial bondage. By March 2005 - just 14 months later - the Dellarias themselves had paid off all their credit card debt, created an emergency fund, set aside money for seminary, and funded a major vacation. Having now led five FPU classes in three parishes, and seeing the results produced, the Dellarias know how life changing this program truly is.
Financial Peace University is not a “get rich quick” scheme. It is not an investment plan with a church. It is not a 9-week infomercial with about the “secrets of success.” FPU is about learning and using basic, biblical, tried-and-true wisdom to make your financial life a joy and not a burden. You will learn how to faithfully give, save and pay bills. You will, as Dave Ramsey says, learn to, "Live like no one else, so you can LIVE like no one else!"
Fr. Kevin is currently facilitating FPU at St. Francis. If you would like to attend a future offering of the course, please notify the St. Francis parish office by sending an email to
